Ethical Practice

Companies today are becoming increasingly aware of their social and moral responsibilities towards communities and environments with which they work. With many of our programmes being in the developing world, this is a responsibility we take seriously.

Maximising benefits while minimising any negative impacts we may have influences every operational decision we take. The following are a few examples of how we do this:

We employ local people overseas rather than expatriates wherever it is practical to do so. This not only supports local economies, it is also important in bridging the cultural divide between us and our partner hospitals and communities.

We actively support social development initiatives overseas, both through projects run by elective students in their spare time and with financial donations.

We try to purchase as much as we can for our programmes from local producers; whether it’s the bed you sleep in or the bread you eat for breakfast, chances are it was made in the town where we’re based.

We use local public transport whenever it is safe and reasonably convenient to do so, helping to conserve the environment as well as helping the economy.

Finally, we’re always open to suggestions.

If you see something that we could do better, please contact us.
