Meet the team in Pokhara, Nepal
Sunil Gurung - Programme Manager
Sunil was born in Pokhara and went to school in Kathmandu. He worked as a radio presenter for various stations such as "Himchuli FM" and more recently "Hits Nepal" in Kathmandu. Sunil has interviewed numerous local artists through his work and met Geri Halliwell! He also worked at the annual jazz festival Jazzmandu and the Hits FM Music Awards. Sunil loves classic rock music, travel and food - he used to write a food column for a youth magazine called "Y!". He also volunteered at Nepal Children's Organization - Bal Mandir - to help local orphans.
Krishna Gurung - Caterer
Krishna hails from Syangja, an hour's drive from Pokhara. He is a cricket fanatic and currently lives in an area of Pokhara called Birouta.
As a child Krishna always loved cooking, which led him to train professionally to become a full-time chef. Having previously worked for Hotel Barahi in Pokhara and at a restaurant in India, Krishna joined Work the World in the spring of 2010. He enjoys creating a variety of dishes to tickle the taste buds, and loves to serve them with style!
Padma Thapa Magar - House Keeper
Padma lives in Ranipouwa, Pokhara with some friends and enjoys reading and listening to the radio. A professionally trained caregiver for two years, Padma previously worked at a healthcare provider before joining Work the World in April 2010.
Padma is incredibly welcoming, but her English is limited. Nevertheless she is eager to practise and is hoping to learn from the students who come to stay at the Work the World house.
