The Lancet Student

The Lancet Student

The Lancet Student was launched in 2007, run by students and for students. Its 2011 relaunch aims to give medical students from around the world a place to talk about their experiences of medical school life, their thoughts on the top health issues of the day, and access premium content from The Lancet for free.

In keeping with The Lancet, the student site has a strong focus on global health. They regularly accept articles from students, offering a free subscription to the Lancet for anything published. Mention Work the World in a positive fashion and you'll also get a reward from us!

Caxton Pre-Paid Cards

Caxton pre-paid cards offer a great way to use credit cards whilst travelling, with none of the fees, commission or extra charges. The "global card" can be used in any country, with any currency, and with any vendor displaying a Visa sign. Simply load the card using your UK debit card either online, over the phone, or via SMS and funds are converted live to the appropriate currency.

These are perfect for our students as they are not subject to credit checks (like standard credit cards), there are no hidden charges so you know exactly how much you are spending, exchange rates are often preferable to exchanging cash, you can limit the money on the cards to help with budgeting and the cards are not directly linked to your bank account. If lost/ stolen/ cloned and you don't cancel the card in time, the only real loss would be the credit that was currently allocated to the card.
