Nandika Nanayakkara - Programme Manager

Born and raised in Kandy, Nandika joined in the spring of 2012, having spent the previous 12 years living and working in Australia. He enjoys cooking, travelling, camping, fishing and driving fast cars!

Nandika lives not far from the Work the World house where he will soon be joined by his fiancé - they will marrying in a traditional Sri Lankan wedding in October. Nandika is always on hand to help students if needed.

Nilushi Lekamge - Assistant Programme Manager

Nilushi Lekamge - Assistant Programme Manager

Nilushi, also known as Nili, co-ordinates the Ayurveda Healthcare Experience, acting as an interpreter in the village for students who are interested in traditional medicine. Her duties also include greeting students at Colombo airport, so she's likely to be the first person from our Sri Lanka team that you meet!

Nili is married and has one daughter. In her spare time she loves watching movies, reading, travelling, dancing and drinking Earl Grey tea, which she discovered whilst living in the UK for 2 years.

Champika Ratnayake - Housekeeper

Champika Ratnayake - Housekeeper

Champika has plenty of experience in hospitality and has worked in several different countries as a housekeeper.  Now settled back into Sri Lankan life, she goes to great lengths to keep our house in Kandy clean, tidy and running smoothly.

Champika has a good knowledge of the city and loves shopping, so she'll be able to give you some great advice on where to get the best bargains! Champika lives near to the Work the World house with her two children.

Aloysius - Caterer

Aloysius Xaver - Caterer

Aloysius rejoined Work the World in March 2012 having previously worked as the house Chef when we established our Sri Lanka pilot programme during the summer of 2010.

Aloysius has a wealth of experience as a Chef having worked for several prestigious international organisations including The British Council and World View Global Media as well as in a number of the top hotels in Sri Lanka.

Prior to joining Work the World he worked at the five-star Ceylon Continental Hotel in Colombo

Aloysius is married with two children and in his spare time he likes to play cricket and Carrom.
