Physiotherapy elective placements in Ghana, West Africa

Ghana suffers from a common problem across Africa - a lack of practitioners. This is a good opportunity to prove yourself and work with your own caseloads of patients.

Government regional hospital - We work with the largest government run health care institution in the Western Region, with its own dedicated physiotherapy building. Placement students that work hard to develop a good relationship with supervisors have opportunities for patient interaction in both outpatients and inpatient treatment,  working with stroke, polio, back pain, scoliosis, paediatrics, burns and sports injury patients.

Don't forget - if your preferred speciality is not listed, give us a call as we can usually accommodate most requests. You could also think about other opportunities to make more of your elective:

Village healthcare experience - Ghana is all about the people and the vibrant, energetic culture that overflows into everything they do. To complement your city placement, we offer a fantastic opportunity to travel to a rural village where you will spend a week working in a basic, local healthcare clinic. You will live with a local family, spending your afternoons with a guide learning traditional Ghanaian customs, enjoying the hospitality and friendliness of West African people and exploring the visually stunning landscapes.
