Many Tanzanians suffer from dental fluorosis due to contaminated water and diet, so working with severe decay and advanced disease is inevitable. Lack of equipment means lots of manual work in extractions and scaling.

Government tertiary referral hospital - Our placements are based in the second largest tertiary referral hospital in the country. Part private, part church funded, it has a busy dental outpatients department offering a wide range of care to patients from all over the region. Relatively well equipped, placements offer scope to get hands on experience in everything from scaling and fillings to orthodontic surgery and restorations.

Split placements - If you are in Tanzania for more than three weeks, it's a great place to do a split placement. We can arrange time in both the tertiary referral, regional hospital, or in the private clinics. If you wish to travel further afield we can arrange a split with one of our programmes in Arusha or Dar es Salaam.
