Radiography elective placements in Mwanza, Tanzania

People are referred from all around the region to the hospital in Mwanza. As the second largest tertiary referral hospital in the country, there is scope to work with a wide range of conditions.

Government tertiary referral hospital - Regional government hospitals are typical of the type of healthcare that most Tanzanians have access to. The Radiology Department is busy, receiving as many as 140 patients per day. Facilities include x-ray, CT and ultrasound.

Don't forget - if your preferred speciality is not listed, give us a call as we can usually accommodate most requests. You could also think about other opportunities to make more of your elective:

Split placements - If you are in Tanzania for more than three weeks, it's a brilliant place to do a split placement. We will give you time in both the tertiary hospital, then arrange for you to work in a smaller clinic or hospital in Northern Tanzania.

Village healthcare experience - To complement your city placement, we offer a fantastic opportunity to travel to a Sukuma tribe village where you will spend a week working in a small hospital. Living in basic accommodation with a local family and spending afternoons with a guide learning about the Sukuma is a unique cultural experience.
