Dental elective placements in Nepal, South Asia
Students need to be proactive to build relationships with supervisors in Nepal before practical work can commence, working creatively around language barriers and using the Nepali lessons provided at the Work the World house.
Placements available:
Private hospital - Our placements are based in the largest private run medical institution in the area, with a busy dental outpatients department that provides a range of treatments including oral surgery. There is scope to work with severe decay and advanced disease.
Dental outreach project - Every year we travel to rural villages with limited access to dental care, setting up temporary clinics to screen and treat the local community for free. Working under the supervision of a professional Nepalese dentist, carrying out as much of the clinical work as possible, you will live with a village community to get a true idea of what rural populations understand about dental healthcare.
