Village healthcare experience in Ghana, Tanzania & Nepal
The provision of primary healthcare varies across each country that we work in. What you may see on your placement in the city hospital and / or clinic is widely different to the delivery and challenges faced by rural communities. We offer Village Healthcare Experiences in Ghana, Tanzania and Nepal that will help you understand more about the country you are living in, as well as the patients you are treating.
This is an amazing opportunity to broaden your healthcare elective or placement experience. In a group of up to 4 people you will spend a week living in a typical African village with a local family, or high up in the mountains as part of a Nepalese community, working alongside a healthcare practitioner and, with the help of your personal guide, getting involved in all aspects of community life. From tribal dances and visiting local healers to treating children with malaria or administering vaccinations, your week will give you a unique insight into the cultures, traditions and delivery of primary healthcare in African rural communities.
Your week could involve dancing at local festivals, visiting farms to learn about the village income, walking to sacred sites to meet traditional healers, assisting with the treatment of children with malaria, joining outreach teams to educate about primary health, responding to road traffic accidents, administering vaccinations or delivery babies. Whatever you end up doing, this experience will show you a whole new side to your placement and will undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip.
