Dentistry Placements in Argentina
Public healthcare - Mendoza's public hospital looks after a huge cross section of society, particularly those with no state or private insurance, and is consequently very busy. The dentistry department is huge and although fairly basic, covers everything from fillings and scalings to maxillofacial surgery. Students with an intermediate level of Spanish and a proactive attitude will find there is scope to get involved with a range of treatments.
Union funded healthcare - Argentinians who work for the state have access to healthcare facilities administered by their trade union. Treatment and care is of a higher standard than the public hospital and students with a good level of Spanish will find the large dental clinic in Mendoza provides great opportunities to work with implants, veneers or within a specialist paediatric department.
Private healthcare - Many Argentinians take out health insurance, which gives them access to hi-tech specialist care. Private clinics and hospitals are far more westernised in their approach and standard of treatment.
Don't forget - if your preferred speciality is not listed, give us a call as we can usually accommodate most requests.
Split placements - If you have four weeks or more it is worth thinking about splitting an elective in Argentina. The government and union funded clinics will show you two different levels of care and allow you to specialise in one area as well as looking at how Argentinean healthcare is delivered to the general population.
Intensive Spanish Courses - We recommend that everyone taking an elective in Argentina has at least intermediate Spanish before they start at the hospital or clinic. We offer an intensive week long course that you can take when you arrive in Mendoza, giving you the opportunity to learn the basics as well as specialise in Spanish tailored to your elective.
