Dentistry Placements in Ghana
Government regional hospital - We work with the busy dental unit at the largest government-run health care institution in the Western Region. Relatively well-equipped and fairly fast paced for Ghana, placements here offer scope to get hands-on experience in everything from scaling to maxillofacial and orthodontic surgery.
Government district hospital - Our placements are based in one of two smaller, government-run institutions that have small dentistry units more typical of the type of dental care available to most Ghanaians. These centres are largely understaffed, and your role within these close knit team will see you quickly building close relationships with supervisors, getting involved in a mix of treatment and surgery.
Dental outreach project - Every year we travel to rural villages that have no access to dental care, setting up mobile clinics to screen and treat kids for free. You will work under the supervision of a professional Ghanaian dentist and live amongst the village community to truly experience the hospitality and friendliness of West African people. Join an existing project or, if there are ten or more of you, we can arrange a special project for your group. Read more on our dental outreach page.

Split placements - If you are in Ghana for more than three weeks, it's a brilliant place to do a split placement. We will give you time in both the regional and district hospital, or send you out on a dental outreach project so that you can get the full picture of Ghanaian dental healthcare and really make the most of your elective.
