Nursing Placements in Ghana
Government regional hospital - We work with the largest government-run health care institution in the Western Region, offering big, busy wards with excellent supervisors and the opportunity to be quite specific about your interests. Nurses in Ghana work closely with doctors and there is great camaraderie between the nursing teams. Paediatrics, neonatal intensive care, obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, surgery and a casualty outpatients clinic all offer some great nursing electives.
Government district hospital - We have a great relationship with the smaller, government-run district hospitals that are more typical of Ghanaian healthcare. Although similar specialist placements are offered, facilities are likely to be more basic and your role will cover a wider variety of areas. Working with a smaller staff team throughout makes it easier to develop relationships with them and get more hands-on experience in a range of treatment and care, as well as get more involved in the whole patient journey.

Split placements - If you are in Ghana for more than four weeks, it's a brilliant place to do a split placement. We will give you time in both the regional and district hospital so that you can get a much better picture of Ghanaian healthcare and really make the most of your elective.
