Dumaguete and beyond
The lively city of Dumaguete is situated on a typically blissful tropical island. The town is an eclectic mix of Spanish colonial heritage, Filipino festivals, incredible beaches and more. In the city’s busy main areas you’ll find bars, restaurants and cafes for when you’re feeling peckish or are in need of a good night out. A relaxing visit to the hot springs also helps after a long day on the wards. When the sun is out (which is more often than not), head down to the local beach to sunbathe, or try your hand at the local water sports. Further afield you can head to Apo Island to see the giant turtles, travel to Bais for some whale shark spotting, or across to Siquijor island to watch the famous witchdoctors work their magic.
