Argentina
Step into a world rich with flavour and activity with a placement in Central Argentina.
Lush vineyards that spread for miles, pounding white water rapids flowing through craggy snow topped mountains, red sandstone canyons offering endless hiking opportunities and a city boasting large plazas where you can sit and eat the best steak of your life whilst watching sultry Argentinian dance seductive tango. Mendoza is a fascinating glimpse into the delights of Argentina and the perfect base to discover a country full of culture and colour.

Where will my healthcare elective be?
We will be launching our programme in May 2010, but if there is an area in which you would like to spend your placement next year, please get in touch and we will make sure that we include it in our conversations with the hospitals and clinics.
We have also developed a close relationship with a leading language school in Argentina, and run a week long intensive Spanish course that give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the language before starting your placement. This is of enormous benefit to your time in Argentina and will help you get far more involved with both medical staff and patients.
Where will I live?
In each of our destinations we spend a large amount of time looking for the perfect accommodation. Your home plays a huge role in your experience overseas and we have had lots of great feedback from our other programmes on what works and what doesn't. What we have found is that after a busy day on placements, students really appreciate the chance to relax and chat to each other in a safe, homely environment. It is also great for students to meet other single travellers and most of our programmes see groups of placement students heading off on trips together at weekends.
All meals are included during your placement and we have a caterer and housekeeper that live on, or nearby the Work the World house, who will ensure you get a hearty breakfast and dinner every weekday, and make sure you have a fully stocked kitchen.
What can I do in my free time?
Mendoza is one of Central Argentina's most picturesque cities. It has lovely cosmopolitan cafes, tree lined avenues and large plazas. Free time can be spent enjoying a glass of the local Malbec, soaking up the atmosphere in one of the milongas (local tango dance halls), shopping in craft fairs or biking around the surrounding vineyards with a list of those open for tastings!
Heading out of Mendoza on your weekends is easy. Based in the heart of central Argentina there are excellent bus and flight links to all parts of the country. Whether you want to stroll the sophisticated streets of Buenos Aires, cross the Andes in Chile to visit artistic and edgy Valparaiso (or ski on them depending on season!), visit the immense Iguazu Falls or explore the glaciers and wilderness of Patagonia, Argentina is a hugely varied country with masses to do.
