Introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine in India
Ayurvedic Medicine
The Indian origins of Ayurvedic medicine date back 5,000 years. It is widely regarded as the oldest healing science in the world. Evolving with the Hindu religion, it is increasingly popular for alternative treatments and preventative medicine.
Ayurveda adopts a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, encompassing herbal medicines, massage, yoga, diet and lifestyle. Its emphasis is as much on prevention as treatments. On our one week course you will be introduced to Ayurveda's principles and get to practice some of the treatments offered by one of the best Ayurveda centres in Kerala.
The course takes place at Dr Franklin’s Panchakarma Institute, about 30 minutes south of Trivandrum. The course has been designed especially for Work the World. Days start with a lecture on principles, followed by practical demonstrations and hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced Ayurvedic doctors.
The course runs every six weeks, meaning that it's almost always possible to add it to any placement. The cost includes all herbal medicines, oils and other items used in demonstrations.
