Batangas and Beyond

Batangas is a small, laid-back, friendly city perched on the coast of Luzon Island. It's the perfect jumping-off point to explore beautiful mountains, white-sand beaches and diverse marine life. The city’s university lends a youthful feel to its restaurants and themed bars — a contrast to the old Filipino spirit that emanates from the crumbling ancestral houses dotted around the island. Batangas and its surrounding areas have an abundance of opportunities for adventure, whether you hop your way through some of the world’s most famous islands, trek to emerald green rice paddies, or peer into the immense crater of Taal Volcano.

Home away from home

When you arrive at the airport, our staff will greet you before taking you to your private, catered accommodation. Living in a house with fellow students from around the world is a great way to settle into your new environment. Our team of local staff know the area like the back of their hand. They’re always on hand to support you and will make sure your placement and experience in Batangas goes smoothly. When it comes to food, our chef cook some of the most delicious traditional Filipino dishes around, and can also turn their hand to Western classics. All dietary requirements can be catered for.

To complement your main clinical placement in Batangas City, we highly recommend undertaking our additional Village Healthcare week. This structured village placement is by far the best way to expand your clinical, cultural, and travel experiences in The Philippines. For one week, you’ll live with a native host family, surrounded by nature. In the mornings, you’ll work in a nearby health outpost, tackling cases from the local township. You’ll be free in the afternoons to immerse yourself in local culture and tradition, including cooking lessons, making crafts, and exploring the surrounding landscapes.
