Because birthing complications are more prevalent in Pokhara, you can expect to engage with many unfamiliar, sometimes unexpected cases whilst on your midwifery elective here. With around 30 babies delivered per day, you may see cases of malpresentation, birth asphyxia, and breech births. The hospital also contains a post natal, pre-eclampsia, and eclampsia unit, allowing you to gain more specific skills and knowledge. While in Pokhara, there's also opportunity to explore the Annapurna Mountains by way of trekking, or peruse the city’s many temples and street markets. Read what our students think below!
