Through partnering with a number of hospitals and clinics in the Takoradi region, we can offer a truly unique and authentic experience of Ghanaian healthcare. While on a nursing elective placement, you can expect to see a range of unusual ailments like typhoid psychosis, malaria and TB. The weekly barbeque on Thursday evenings is definitely the highlight of the week. As well as some delicious food and dancing to catchy Ghanaian music, one week we were treated to some cultural dancing and drumming.

I worked on the A&E department and also worked occasionally in the evenings on the maternity and neonatal ward. These two weeks gave me the once in a life time experience to become hands on in areas of work unfamiliar and usually off-limits to me.
